Making original multimedia materials for and with artists, writers, researchers, and community leaders in New Orleans
-
Original Materials
We are making original multimedia materials with artists, writers, researchers, and community leaders as well as digitizing, annotating, and sharing historical images and sound recordings in collaboration with libraries, museums, and collections. These open educational resources are being shared with teachers and students at no cost. They are licensed for classroom use.
In many cases, our open educational resources incorporate third-party content for which we have secured permission. In some instances, materials are included for nonprofit educational purposes under the doctrine of fair use as provided for in Section 107 of US Copyright Law.

Open Access
Except where otherwise noted, our teaching materials are shared under a Creative Commons License (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0), which requires authorial attribution and prohibits commercial use. In addition, this license prohibits sharing or publishing any work derived from our resources in any medium, including on the internet, without our permission. If you transform our materials into your own lessons or assignments and would like to share your work with other teachers, we would be eager to work with you to facilitate that process.

Collaborate with us!

The Open Classroom for New Orleans Culture Grant
The Open Classroom on New Orleans Culture is an extension of a National Endowment for the Humanities project that produced original multimedia materials and document collections about New Orleans history and culture for use in colleges and universities. This current project brings those resources to new audiences through a series of public events as well as funding opportunities for teachers in Orleans Parish public high schools.
